Of all the holidays there are, Thanksgiving, at least the theme of it about offering gratitude for our lives, becomes more important to me each year. It is the holiday my children love. It is the holiday that requires one to show up, eat and not much more. Thanksgiving is about family time, rituals and traditions dear to each person.
Over the years I’ve become conflicted about celebrating that early settlers survived while native people were mistreated and because we took their land away. I am not conflicted about sharing our home. Although in prior years I may have complained, I do find joy in fixing a big meal for family. Wherever you find yourself on Thanksgiving, I hope your day is filled with joy.
